Chadius: TOA Summary 10/28/08

• Looks like Li will be on the "smash stuff and make a large distraction" team

• Zii gives a meh speech and TOA heads out.

• Raid!
  • OK, Lily disables the loading door while TOA distracts at the front door.
  • Team 2 sneaks into main compound.
  • Lily knocks out the surveillance cameras, puts on loop.
  • There's an elevator to Building 256's basement...it's looking for Eltren biometrics.

Mission Report: Lily

We raided the MISTIC compound, specifically building 256. This is the place that made me run away from home when I was 17. I knew that TOA would deal with it eventually, but I haven't been looking forward to going back.

The building is inside a walled compound. A large group of TOA agents attacked the front entrance, while our two teams tried to sneak in the back. Vivi drained a little bit of my soul so that she could look like me. I'll live--it's not like I was using it. I modified a Gpod so that I could look like her. I wasn't sure how we'd handle it if we got into a close fight. Luckily, it didn't come to that.

We decided to break in through the loading dock. Team 2 (consisting of everyone from our team except me, and most of Deen's team) went in first while most of the MISTIC troops were distracted by the firefight at the front gate. I took a little bit of time to disable some security systems and open the gate, but someone detected me doing that. Team 2 still managed to sneak in around some oblivious science guys. Team 1 (me, Eridel, Millie, and Issac Dyoed) waited outside while they snuck in to the main compound and hung out in the unoccupied weapons room.

I did a little bit more hacking by locking down the barracks and messing with the external cameras. There was a long hallway to the elevator down to the sublevels of building 256. A bit of hacking made it plausible to disable the traps in the hallway, but I was out of range of the elevator itself. Ceelie distracted the scientists still at the loading bay door (she says she made one of them have to pee really badly) and my team snuck in the old fashioned way.

Once within range of the elevator, I tried to hack it to let team 2 in, but failed. I did get a response from it: Eltren biometrics detected. It was waiting for me. I guess letting myself get railroaded into coming along was the right choice afterall. Team 1 caught up with team 2 and both groups got on the elevator. It went down to the sublevel, into what used to be the Drain Pits.

It wasn't as horrifying down there as it had been before. It was just a ton of computers, a big glowing box, a giant robot, Max Prattles, and Dad. There was a standoff going on between the humans when we showed up, and the box had a crack in it. The robot looked really cool, even if it did start attacking us almost immediately. Li, Diiman, and Tara fought it while Dad said something about an orbital laser nuking the site in 2 minutes and could I pretty please stop it? *sigh* Why does he even have something like that?

Hilariously, from that distance he couldn't tell that Vivi was not me. Looks like the decoy worked, though not as we'd planned it. Probably a big waste of effort. Vivi did manage to get the appropriate reactions for me across, though. That was funny.

I managed to hack into the space-laser from the remote that Max was holding ... though he didn't hold it for long, as Diiman shot it out of his hands. I convinced Tara to not crush the remote, as that would probably have hindered my efforts. I also did not wait until the last second to disable the firing sequence of the weapon. There was enough drama going on.

The giant robot started making many smaller robots out of the surrounding computer equipment. This pissed Dad off more. It all turned out ok, though, because when Diiman and Li destroyed the big robot, the smaller robots collapsed. Deen and his team arrested and effectively subdued Max.

The lab was in shambles, but it didn't seem to matter. Once the danger was gone, Dad got positively giddy about the changes going on with the box. He practically ignored Li's attacks, and though Tara's magicial unicorn girl beam of light seemed to hurt him he wasn't fighting back against us. Diiman shot everyone with his rubber band gun. It was embarassing.

Eventually the fighting stopped. He called me over, and when Vivi walked over to him he seemed to figure out that she was not me. He didn't know which one of the many people in the room was me, however, so everyone started gesturing at themselves and other people to try to fool him. He said that Mom was waking up. I still don't know how I feel about this, but watching a 50-year-old man go so manic ... it just bugs me. I would prefer him to be the classic overly serious supervillian. It'd be easier to deal with. It's like he's a big goof. It doesn't mesh well with the fact that he runs a megacorp with storm troopers, designs weapons, and tortures people. I'm never going to wrap my head around it.

Since it wasn't really doing any good, I turned off the Gpod to look like myself again. It was ... awkward. But then Mom was there. I'd say 'exactly as I remembered her' except that I don't remember her. She ordered Dad to turn himself in, which he did. And she started to try to explain things, but I think that it's going to take a long time before I accept what's happened.

So now building 256 has been destroyed. Max Prattles and Magus Eltren have both been arrested. Mother Joule, the fateweaver of technology, has been revived. And I'm the new president of MISTIC. I'm not ready for all this.
