WU Edana
Edana... oh, Edana. The first thing I ever wrote about her:
Confusion was turning to chaos and just about to turn to panic, when she arrived. She was at least two years older than the oldest, and unlike you, she wore jeans and a t-shirt. But she knew, she understood, and as she walked into the crowd you felt suddenly so very much calmer.
Her name was Edana, and she took you away from that place in a stolen bus, and took you out of the city until dark fell; and then, as you were just starting to fall asleep, she took you somewhere else. A house; crumbling and decrepit but empty. And you made it your own.
It wasn't the best neighborhood; people glared at each other suspiciously on their way to get the mail. She explained to you that only a few of you could leave at any one time, to avoid drawing notice. The house was supposed to be empty; it had been slated for demolition, but somehow slipped through the cracks and gotten lost in piles of paperwork. None of this made much sense to you; you couldn't remember a world which hadn't consisted of white beds and men in masks. But she was kind to you, and fed you, and clothed you, and you were happy. Twice a week she'd go out with a handful of telekinetics and piece by piece, they would send home food and clothes and supplies. Never too much from one place; but enough, overall, to keep you all safe and warm.
In the thirteen years that Waking Up spanned, lots happened. She married Andrew (Q's character) at the end of WU2; and she ascended, leaving her humanity behind, as part of a deal with the Seleigh at the end of WU3. She started out as just an Empath, but when little Millie decided she wanted to be normal, she took the Talents of Telepathy and Telekinesis from her.
She was the "mom" of the whole group, and she is greatly missed.
