Batch 17
I think I want to make a braggot. That'll be interesting.
- 3.3 lbs (1 can) light lme
- 3.3 lbs (1 can) amber lme
- 1 lbs crystal 60
- .25 lbs coffee malt
- .25 lbs honey malt
- 1 oz fuggle hops pellets
- 1 oz kent golding hops pellets
- 1 tsp irish moss
- 10 lbs TJ Clover honey
- 1 tube White Labs 007
- 2 tsp yeast energizer
- 1/4 cup extra light DME
- 1 tube White Labs 099 yeast
Brought 2 gallons of water to 180F, soaked the grains for 45 minutes. Added 1 gallon of cold water, brought to a boil, added LME, returned to heat, brought to a boil again, started 1 hour timer and added kent golding hops. At 30 minutes, added irish moss. As 15 minutes, added fuggle hops. Cooled in a sink of cold water to 76F. Added Hot water to 3 gallons, yeast energizer, and pitched. -Morrigu 21:15, 4 March 2012 (EST)
Racked and fed 5 lbs of honey in 1/2 gallon of water. - 11 March 2012
Racked and fed 5 lbs of honey in 1/2 gallon of water again. Very sweet, with a nice honey flavor on top of a nice beer flavor. -Morrigu 22:08, 25 March 2012 (EST)
Boiled ~1 liter of water, added 1/4 cup DME. Returned to heat and boiled for a few more minutes. Cooled to 80F in an ice water bath and put in a 1 gallon fermenter with 1/8 tsp yeast energizer. Pitched 099 yeast to make a starter. Morrigu 3 September 2012
pitched the starter. Nothing happened. Not sure if I let the starter sit for too long, or if the braggot is just too much for the yeast to do any more to it. I'll try racking to oxygenate it a bit and see if that helps. Morrigu 6 September 2012
