I figured it's time to play again. This time, I'm going for a slightly sweet, malty, high gravity blond ale, the idea being a blonde stout. We'll see how well I can pull it off.
Blond Bombshell
- 2 cans (6.6 lbs) Breiss pilsen liquid malt extract
- 1 can (3.3 lbs) Muntons extra light liquid malt extract
- 8 oz Amber malt
- 8 oz carapils
- 8 oz Munich I
- 4 oz Halcyon
- 2 oz Special Rast
- 2 oz Brown malt
- 1 oz Hallertau hops pellets
- 1 oz fuggle hops pellets
- 1 tube White Labs 002 English Ale yeast
- 1 tsp irish moss
- 5 oz priming sugar
Brought 2 gallons of water to 185F, soaked grains for 45 minutes. Added LME, 1 gallon of boiling water, and 1 gallon of hot tap water. Brought to 190F, added Hallertau hops and set 1 hour timer. At 30 minutes added the irish moss. At 15 minutes, added the fuggle hops. Cooled in a sink of cold water to 88F, topped off with cold water, and pitched at 77F.
