Summary
Here we are, in the City of Sigil. Traveling to the plane of water is simple, although traversing through it will be a bit difficult. Oh, I suppose breathing is important too. All the equipment we need will take a few days to forge, so we stay in Struquin's home for the time being.
I'm not in the mood to research spells tonight. Yes, it happens sometimes. Michael leaves to go tithe to his church or something (Why doesn't he buy new equipment with that much money? Is it status? Pride?) And Querca goes to the temple of cute bunnies Ehlonna. The rest of us head to the local bar. Sil's suggestion of course.
Struquin pays for our mead and mingles with many people here. He's definently local. Michael is of course oblivious to all the women cooing after him. Even after Sil drags him onstage he doesn't notice. He needs to live a little (irony! I made a funny) so I tell one of the girls that he's still recovering from The Incident. The Incident left a hole in his heart, that only love can fill. Of course she left Michael her address. Michael's confused from it all (and he thinks The Incident is that Other Incident) but oh well.
Sil drank herself silly. She managed to go through a drink list and won a trashy crown. She also handled several drunk men while under the influence. They couldn't lay a finger on her of course; they couldn't lay a finger on Michael. Hmpf, they couldn't even lay a finger on Ellowyn (although he did raise his Mage Armor first.) Ha. It was a good night to feel superior.
That feeling went away. Overnight.
First I receive a message from the Black Orb. Someone wants to trade the orb for information. Ha, a fool's deal. Sadly I've given my name and the rendevous point is that temple. The demon worship temple (according to Struquin) that you in general stay far away from. Conversly, I know almost nothing about them. Except that the meeting won't be pretty.
I planned to tell the group about it in the morning but that moment didn't arrive. All the portals in Sigil abruptly closed. There are a handful of people who could do this, and maybe one who would do this. The Lady of Pain. The general plan is to stay far, far away from her (Struquin agrees) until whoever crossed her is turned into a rock or something. Was this event linked to whoever contacted me? With all the noise and panic, it was going to be a long night.
Then I see my wounded sister with the rest of her group heading to the palace. Badly wounded. For something to hit her that hard. I had to know. Screw the secret. Thanks to the portals closing, there was a lot of confusion at the palace. Struquin called in a favor and Sir Osmul helped us enter the palace. We managed to enter the room where she received treatment.
Not good. The Affliction of- of- of- dammit, I couldn't remember and I didn't care. All I remember is that it's an artifact-strength curse, and the standard Remove Curse spell merely delays the effects. Good thing I prepared Remove Curse this morning. I relieve Marcus so he can explain why Aezma was hit.
Apparently they found something and returned to Sigil to announce their findings when they were ambushed. The attackers were swift and surgical. They stole the item and did...this to Aezma before disappearing. Marcus pulled some strings and managed to get the Lady of Pain to shut down the portals until this was resolved.
Sil connects the dots and guesses the "something" stolen was a Dragon Orb. Then she pulls out her own orb. Obviously things get tense from there. With their pasts, and the weakened position they're in, I'm not surprised they drawn out weapons. Luckily we convince them we're on the same side (eh Aezma?) And we perform an inventory check on the Dragon Orbs.
- We have Gold, Black and Silver
- Pazuzu has the Green
- Aezma's group (I suppose I should say "The group of Tamara") has white, blue, and they had the red until the theft.
- The church of Tiamat has the copper
This leaves the bronze and brass Dragon Orbs unaccounted for. We're pretty confident the bronze Orb is on the Plane of Water.
As for that resolution with the Lady of Pain? We're going enter the Labyrinth of Sigil. A few groups will enter. There is a sleeping red dragon underneath the city. To be exact, it's THE red dragon. If the red orb gets close to it, it will awaken. If we're lucky, the orb owner will use it as a weapon and destroy Sigil. If we're unlucky, the dragon will destroy everything in its path, including Sigil. The party gives the archmage a few lame reasons for entering the Labyrinth; Frankly I just want to punish whoever did this to my sister. I think I said it too loudly though. Eh, screw the secret.
The archmage informed us that we are one of the four groups who will enter the Labyrinth. The followers of Tamara, the thieves, and an unknown fourth group will also enter. The other groups enter before us and get 5 minute head starts (what, my reason wasn't good enough? Bah!) when we finally enter, I catch a glimpse of the Lady of Pain before I head into the portal. She isn't going to stop me. Those other groups aren't going to stop me. Not until I save her.
